This is a beginners guide to Crew Supporters Union for those who came upon us from one of our shirts making a cameo in Fox’s new show Red Band Society.
What is Crew Supporters Union?
Around in various forms since 2000, the Crew Supporters Union was officially organized and named in 2006. Though the group is based in Columbus, the Crew Supporters Union has membership outside of the Central Ohio metropolitan area with local chapters that regularly carpool to matches from Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Detroit, and Louisville. When the Crew is on the road, you can find members at their headquarters 4th Street Bar & Grill located just one block from Crew Stadium. CSU is a volunteer controlled 501(c)(7) organization that is not only dedicated to supporting the Crew and soccer in Central Ohio but actively engages in charitable causes. It is also proud member of The Columbus Idea Foundry, and they are widely recognized for their shirts released through their partnership with HOMAGE.
Why is there a Crew Union shirt on Red Band Society?
That’s a great question, we’ve heard one of the writers is from Columbus, but that’s all we know.

How do I get one of those shirts?
This shirt holds a lot of sentimental value to our members, especially our members that have been with us since the beginning. This was the first shirt our group debuted in 2010. By pure coincidence years before HOMAGE ever had a brick and mortar store, one of our members introduced us to a recent Ohio University graduate starting a t-shirt business out of his parents’ basement. We had no idea that young man would go on to establish a highly successful and nationally known clothing brand. And they had no idea our group of a few dozen fans would grow to an organization of nearly a thousand members.
Since then, HOMAGE has opened two stores, with a third about to open in Cincinnati, and struck deals with ESPN, NCAA, and even MLS, with our partnership producing another nine shirts. But to our early members, nothing will ever top this shirt that many of us were wearing when the Crew lifted the 2008 MLS Cup.
Due to the prolific output of other Crew Union and Crew shirts, HOMAGE retired this graphic in Spring 2014. We were able to secure one last printing this Summer, and we will sell them at our tailgates either this Fall or next Spring.
You can see our shirt this year below and check out HOMAGE’s current selection of soccer shirts in their webstore. We also have shirts available at our tailgates.
